Venus Riders Family SUP Championship: 2 - 5 June 2012

Terms and Conditions

Race Entry:

1.     All competitors must be aged 8 or above on the date they enter the heats

2.     All competitors must be able to swim a minimum of 100 metres and sign a consent form to confirm this

3.     Parental consent is required for competitors aged under 18 years.

4.     Contestants must make the event organisers aware of any existing medical conditions that they have before competing. These must be noted on the event registration form.

5.     Mixed-age qualifying heats will be run on 2nd, 3rd and 4th June 2012.

6.     Contestants must register for a place in the qualifying heats at 9:30am. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

7.     Heats will be run each day from 10am. There will be a maximum of 6 contestants in each heat.

8.     Each contestant will be issued with a SUP event wristband, which must be worn for the duration of the day.

9.     In the event of poor weather, for safety reasons qualifying heats and/or the finals may be postponed/cancelled. The event organisers reserve the right to move the heats and/or finals to Bigbury on Sea if weather conditions are suitable.

Qualifying Heats:

10.  All contestants who have been allocated a place in the qualifying heats must meet at the registration point 30 minutes before their allocated heat time. Latecomers will be scratched from their allocated heat

11.  Qualifying heats will be for mixed ages

12.  Contestants must complete a 100 metre SUP course

13.  Contestants can stand, sit or lie on the paddle board to complete the course

14.  The first contestants in each age group over the finishing line will progress to the finals day which will be held on Tuesday 5th June, 2012 from 10am.

15.  The event marshal’s decision is final. Negotiations will not be entered into.

16.  Space permitting, if a contestant does not win their allocated heat, they may re-enter the competition in either a later heat or on a different day.

Finals Day

17.  All contestants who have won a place in the finals must register at the beach at 9:00am on Tuesday 5th June 2012.  Latecomers will be scratched from the finals.

18.  The finals day will be separated into three age categories: 8-12 years, 13-16 years and 17+ years. Contestants will compete against others in the same age category.

19.  Based on the assumption that each qualifying heat is fully subscribed:

·         The top three contestants in each semi-final will progress to the grand final.

·         The top three contestants in each grand final will receive a trophy / medal.

Liability

20.  By its nature the sea can be dangerous and contestants must at all times take care for their own safety.

21.  All equipment shall be in good working order and fit for its normal purpose.

22.  The contestant shall be liable to Venus for the cost of loss of damage to the equipment howsoever arising except for fair wear and tear.

23.  Venus takes safety seriously and reserves the right to refuse entry to the championship for whatever reason.

24.  The contestant accepts responsibility for the safe use of the equipment at all times and for the health and safety of himself / herself and all other users, particularly minors.

25.  The contestant must at all times obey the instructions and directions given by the event marshals or lifeguards employed on the beach.

26.  A buoyancy aid must be used at all times whilst competing.

27.  The contestant shall indemnify the company for any claim howsoever arising in respect of personal injury or damage to property arising out of the use of the equipment and in respect of all costs and charges in connection with such claim.

28.  The contestant declares that they are medically fit and are not taking any prescriptive or recreational drugs or suffering from any medical condition or the effect of alcohol which might impair the use of the equipment.

Prizes

29.  The top three contestants in each age category of the grand final on Tuesday 5th June 2012 will win a medal / trophy.

30.  All contestants will be entered into a free prize draw which will take place after the grand final on Tuesday 5th June after the finals.

31.  To claim the prize, the winner must be present at the beach at the time of the draw.

32.  The free prize draw prizes will include:

·        A £400 holiday cottage voucher from Helpful Holidays*

33.  Prizes are as stated. No cash alternatives.

34.  All decisions are final. No negotiation will be entered into.

35.  Only one prize per competitor may be won.

36.  Cost of delivery of prizes, if required, is not included in the prize. 

Other

37.  No employees of the Venus Company or any company associated with the event, including their immediate families, may enter the free prize draw.

38.  It may be required for any competitor or free prize draw winners and their names and/or photographs to be used for public relations and in promotional material for the Venus Company in print or online.

39.  Prizes for the draw are provided in their entirety by these associated companies.  Venus cannot be held responsible for failure to provide prizes or any subsequent problem which may arise from any of the prizes supplied.    

40.  Entry into the championship deems that the entrant accepts these terms and conditions in full.

41.  Venus cannot be held responsible if the competition is cancelled or postponed for any reason.

*Helpful Holidays Prize - Terms and Conditions

1. The prize consists of a gift voucher up to the maximum value of £400 with Helpful Holidays Ltd.  If the value of the holiday chosen is less than £400, no difference in cash is available.
2. The holiday on offer is subject to availability and Terms and Conditions apply.
3. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
