Ella may be just six years old, but she is on a mission to make Salcombe ‘Plastic Clever’. Together with her mum, Anna, she encourages businesses to cut out all the unnecessary single-use plastic that is used every day. After school and on weekends, you may find Ella handing out certificates to Plastic Clever businesses that meet her criteria.
Being passionate campaigners against single use plastics; we banned plastic straws 15 years ago and encourage compostable takeaway containers, we are delighted to support Ella’s efforts.
So, on a wet and wild Wednesday, our East Portlemouth café manager, Joe Soames, met with Ella and Anna to receive our Plastic Clever certificate.
Anna said, “The Venus Company has been at the forefront of sourcing environmentally friendly alternatives for a long time, so we feel really proud to present them with #PlasticClever awards for their East Portlemouth cafe as well as their five other cafes and restaurants across Devon and Cornwall. The Venus team set a great example, showing what’s possible and hopefully that will continue to be inspire us all to think more responsibly about using single-use plastics. Great work!”
